injuries. They are smart and sleek, breathable matrix, removable malleable splint. Thumb SpicaSplint allows free movement of the hand
Thumb Spica is essentially a gutter splint adapted for the thumb. It is indicated for nondisplaccd
fractures of the first metacarpal bone, proximal phalanx of the thumb
Wear a Thumb Spica Splint while you sleep and for most of the day to immobilize the wrist and
thumb and allow the tendons to rest. Thumb spica splint is suitable for fractured thumb providing
restricted stability in movement.
Thumb spica splints are very Widely used Due to the of overuse injuries Active in the hand and
thumb may be Dreadfully common. The Thumb Splint is designed to keep the thumb stabilized
while allowing free range of motion to the rest of the hand. It is Made of breathable 3 layered PUF
fused fabric with excellent aesthetics, comfort and a long life
The thumb spica prevents the thumb from moving and pushing against the palm. It is generally
used for the broken bones or fractures. Thumb splints are applied to decrease movement and
to provide support and for reducing discomfort by stabilization of a particular injury. It is used
to temporarily immobilize the fracture prior to surgery and assists healing. They are preferred in
emergency department so that acute injury is evaluated.
Thumb Spica is used for therapeutic immobilization of thumb injuries. It keeps the thumb in
a fixed position called the “glass holding position”. This not only allows the undisturbed torn
ligament or fracture healing, but also helps us to perform a few activities, like holding a glass or a
book and so on. Since, it keeps the remaining fingers active it is also called a functional position
and this prevents fingers from becoming stiff. It provides ample of space to accommodate the
hand swelling, which makes it a highly comfortable and light-weight alternative to the thumb spica
cast for mild injuries of the thumb, like a sprained thumb
